Race for Survival 2016 in Cologne
RUN FOR FUN, RUN FOR LIFE - JOIN US TO BEAT BREAST CANCERYour mom, sister, grandmother, or friend? Whatever the reason for your inspiration, we welcome you to the movement that will end breast cancer.
On Saturday, June 11th 2016 the fourth Race for Survival will take place at Cologne Tanzbrunnen. Besides a 2 km walk and a 5 km run through the nice Rhine park overlooking the skyline of cologne and the dome a wonderful stage program for the whole family is waiting for you.
WHAT ARE WE RUNNING FOR?
We Race because...
- One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime
- Because every minute somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer
- And because breast cancer knows no boundaries - be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location
Every year over 75.000 women in Germany will be confronted with the shocking diagnosis of breast cancer. In many cases the disease is diagnosed late or even too late. About 17.000 women will die each year. That makes breast cancer the most common malignant tumor in women.
Men, too, can be diagnosed with breast cancer. This is, however very rare. But because of the low number of affected men, there is too little male breast cancer research and little science-based patient information.
We want to change that! Aktion Pink Deutschland e.V. is a non-profit organization that, in addition to supporting those affected, works to support better breast cancer education and screening. The net proceeds of the monies donated and the starting fees for the Race for Survival finance model projects.
We continue to Race because at the current rate, 13 million breast cancer deaths around the world will occur in the next 25 years!
WHY SHOULD YOU RUN?
When you participate and donate money for the Race, we fight these statistics together. In 1980, the 5-year relative survival rate for women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer was about 74 percent. Today that number is 99 percent! We has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer - transforming how the world talks about and treats the disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. This progress was made with your continued support and together we can reach our vision of a world without breast cancer.
Men, women, children, seniors and teams - everyone can participate! By doing so, we will raise public awareness about this life-threatening disease as well as give those affected courage and strength to fight. Join us! Become a part of this movement and experience the energy, the joy, the emotion of this event.
A real movement - for and with breast cancer patients!
